Evgeny Konnov was born in 1992 in Chirchiq, Uzbekistan. He studied under Professors Natalia Suslova (Tchaikovsky Music College at the Moscow State Conservatory), Georg Friedrich Schenk (Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf), Evgenia Rubinova (University of Augsburg, Leopold Mozart College of Music), Jan Gottlieb Jiracek von Arnim (University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna), Albert Mamriev (Piano Academy Neue Sterne in Hannover) and Christoph Hammer (University of Augsburg, Leopold Mozart College of Music).

 

He is the winner of first prize in more than 30 international piano competitions, including 64th Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona (Spain), 14th Unisa, International Piano Competition in Pretoria (South Africa), 31st Ettore Pozzoli International Piano Competition in Seregno (Italy), 18th Compositores de España International Piano Competition in Madrid (Spain) - all members of the World Federation of International Music Competitions. Following his success as a laureate and Audience Award recipient at the George Enescu International Competition, he made his highly acclaimed debut at the George Enescu International Festival in 2025.

 

After winning the 60th Augsburg City Art Award he was Artist in Residence at the Staatstheater Augsburg during the 2020/2021 season. His debut album, released by Naxos in 2022 and featuring piano sonatas by the Catalan composer Antonio Soler was highly praised by the international press. In 2023, Evgeny recorded Liszt´s Études d’exécution transcendante by Solfa Recordings, which also received outstanding reviews.

Evgeny Konnov has given concerts in many of the world´s leading concert halls in Spain (National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall in Bilbao, Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in Barcelona, L'Auditori in Barcelona, Auditorio de Tenerife), South Africa (Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg, The Playhouse in Durban), Germany (Gasteig in Munich), Romania (The Romanian Athenaeum), Portugal (Casa de Musica in Porto), France (Salle Cortot in Paris), Russia (Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory), Italy (Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, Casa di Riposo per Musicisti), Austria (Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna), Belgien (Flagey Building in Brussels), Japan (Act City Hamamatsu), Netherlands, Poland, Malta, Uzbekistan and Morocco.

Since 2024 Evgeny Konnov has been a piano teacher at the University of Augsburg, Leopold Mozart College of Music and has given masterclasses in Spain, Germany and South Africa. He also serves as a jury member at international competitions such as the Alexander Scriabin International Piano Competition in Grosseto, Clavis Bavaria (President of the Jury) and the International Piano Competition Spanish Composers in Las Rozas de Madrid.
